A living Art Nouveau masterpiece in the heart of the Marais
Inaugurated on 7 June 1914, the Rue Pavée synagogue is the only place of worship ever designed by Hector Guimard, the master of French Art Nouveau. Its undulating stone façade is one of a kind in the world.
Commissioned by the Agoudas Hakehilos association, it remains an active Orthodox synagogue at the heart of the historic Jewish quarter — the Pletzl.
The only synagogue by the Art Nouveau master.
Damaged on the eve of Yom Kippur, then lovingly restored.
Protected as a Monument Historique of France.
Still a place of prayer, memory and heritage.
